Discussion Question After Reading Pages 1-55Teachers, you are welcome to use this PowerPoint to review the stories up to this point. You will need to view in "Present" mode to see everything. The final slide includes a graphic organizer that you can print to help your students respond to this prompt. After discussing as a class, teachers can summarize and respond with a written class response right here. Complete the "leave a reply" field below to comment. Students can respond individually and/or watch and respond to videos by others on Flipgrid HERE. Flipgrid password is Refugee18 . If you'd like students to watch and respond to videos recorded by other students, you may like to use this response sheet (not created by me). The response sheet helps keep students on track and focused on learning from others. The response sheet was created by Heather Marshall and shared in the GRA Facebook group last year. Grid submissions will post once approved by me. I'm just monitoring for obvious reasons...making sure responses contribute to the topic and that this remains a safe space for our kids.

Hi, You are so awesome for doing this. I just found out about the Global Read Aloud, and since I am doing a unit on immigration anyway, this fits in perfectly. Your website and flipgrid will make this all so much more exciting than I could do so last minute.

Happy to have you join us! The immigration stories under the "before reading" section that have been submitted so far are fabulous. You may want to check them out.

Hi, my students entered responses as well today. If you'd like me to moderate their responses I'd be happy to if you'll add me as copilot. I believe I had responses added by Lainey, Megan, Mason, and Christopher today and we will add more tomorrow.

Our students did as well. Do you need to approve all of them for them to be seen?

We are really enjoying interacting with your students. My students were reluctant and even a bit negative until they saw the videos. They exclaimed how they liked the accents and became so engaged and excited. The global-ness (globality?) of it all became real to them.

This is awesome! I've got 5 classes of 8th grade (in Palm Beach County, Florida) that will be excited about this! I tried several of the Flipgrid passwords (given in comments) but none worked -- so... what is it? lol

Is it because you are not able to access to Google Drive at school?

Our 6th grade class in Kansas City, MO seems to be more interested in Josef's story because several of us are familiar with WWII through documentaries, family connections, previous knowledge and our own personal interests. Others are interested in Mahmoud and Isabelle because they are NOT as familiar. Overall, I think that we are eager to see how these three different stories might be similar to each other. What might we learn from Josef's story that we didn't already know about WWII and Germany?

Thank you so much for this. My students are filming. They got so excited to see Jenna's posted. I do not have Facebook. I do not wish to have Facebook. I have gotten the information from my friend, but is there a way for me to get your information without Facebook?

This comment slipped by me somehow. Sorry! I'm sure you noticed that I am no longer moderating the videos.
